CRAIG FIELDER, CLASS OF 1984 - One of the best all-around athletes in MHS history; 4-sport standout; former UVA football; McLean High School Fielder Award to Outstanding Athletes named in his honor; lost courageous battle with cancer in 1987 after beating it and returning to UVA football team; UVA Craig Fielder Award to Athlete Who Best Overcomes Adversity


ED RYAN, CLASS OF 1971- One of the most dominating wrestlers in MHS history; Only one of two MHS athletes to win 2 state wrestling championships; led McLean to state runner-up in Wrestling in 1970 and 1971. 


JASON JOHNSON, CLASS OF 1993- 3-sport standout and only one of two MHS athletes to win 2 state wrestling titles in 1992 and 1993.  Led McLean to first-ever football playoff win in 1992; 3-year baseball standout; 9 varsity letters


TED PEASE, COACH- Winningest coach in MHS history and 3rd all-time in State of Virginia for soccer wins; region titles in 1978 and 1980; started soccer program at McLean in early 1970s and built one of the DC area's best high school programs; led McLean to wrestling district championship; Former Virginia State Champion wrestler at Fairfax High School and a member of the Fairfax Hall of Fame; All-American wrestler at East Stroudsburg University. 


MARY LOU CARROLL, COACH- Longtime coach at McLean who started in 1955 when school opened; all-time leader in field hockey wins; won Region titles and was State runner-up in 1982; won district titles in basketball; member of DC/Virginia Softball Hall of Fame; Member of James Madison University Hall of Fame; all-time great athlete at JMU and Falls Church High School


MARSHA EHRSAM, COACH, CLASS OF 1979- Co-Head Coach of 1986 State Champion Field Hockey team; Washington Post Co-Head Coach of the Year; longtime McLean field hockey, swim/dive, and girls soccer coach


1986 STATE CHAMPION FIELD HOCKEY TEAM- First team at MHS to win a State Title; All-Met first-team selections: Jennifer Wilson and Mary Cheney; Marsha Ehrsam and Demby Helwig were named Washington Post co-Head Coaches of the Year. 


ERIC DORSEY, CLASS OF 1982- Football, wrestling, and track standout. First Round draft pick of New York Giants, 1986 and won 2 Super Bowls; 4-year starter at Notre Dame.


MARCIA MCDERMOTT, CLASS OF 1983- All around great athlete at McLean; girls soccer All-Met, basketball MVP; Field Hockey MVP and All-Region; won 3 NCAA soccer titles at UVA; assistant coach of US Soccer Team; former college coach; former professional soccer league general manager; major promoter of women's soccer nationwide


WARREN HARVEY, COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTOR- Great ambassador to McLean High School sports; longtime basketball scorekeeper and chain gang head for football games; volunteered at over 1,000 games at McLean


SETH GREISINGER, CLASS OF 1993- All-Met pitcher and First-round pick of Detroit Tigers in 1996; Won bronze medal in 1996 Olympics with Team USA; Pitching standout at UVA; pitched for Tigers and Atlanta Braves; currently pitching overseas.


ELLEN FOX, CLASS OF 1983- First and only track State champion in school history with 1983 long jump record; holds several school track records


ROGER COLE, COACH, ADMINISTRATOR- Began coaching at McLean in 1955 when it opened; assistant on undefeated 1956 footbal team; returned in 1969 as head football coach and won district title; Athletic Director from 1972-1986


CRICKET CALL, COACH, ADMINISTRATOR- Longtime coach and girls athletic director; coached field hockey, softball and basketball; significant influence in promotion and growth of girls sports at McLean


NATE FRIENDS, CLASS OF 1991- Soccer and basketball star at McLean; One of most athletic basketball and soccer players in MHS history; Washington Post First-Team Soccer All-Met; Won 4 NCAA titles in 4 years at University of Virginia; scored key goals win national title; photographed on cover of Sports Illustrated; All-District and All-Region basketball player at McLean
